Black Sheep restaurant is CLOSED! what happened?<\/p>\n

There is a new store on one of the corners of Five Points, on Park Street- the main street. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I went for a walk to the Five Points neighborhood and right on the busy Park Street corner found the newly opened cannabis store.  As you walked in, the large space with comfortable couches and a pool table in the middle, friendly hosts welcome one to the dispensary counter and digital panels, for patients to register. These guys are all over Florida, I counted ten dispensaries in the state.<\/p>\n

I think it fits the neighborhood.<\/p>\n

It is nice to meet nice people having coffee next to a cookie place, or shopping.
\nThe antique shops are still one of the main attractions, and the jewelry store, Midnight Sun. 
\nThe clothing stores, mostly for women are trendy and appropriate.
\nThe old movie theater is a landmark in Five Points, it is always playing cool movies. Here is the link to the Sun Ray Cinema >><\/a><\/p>\n

Bark<\/strong>, the pet resort has a lot of toys for pets.<\/p>\n

There are a hand-full of restaurants with Okay food and healthy choices on Park, Margaret and Lomax Street. I had pizza, not great – if you know of a place with yummy food, let us know!<\/p>\n

A good drink<\/strong>
\nIt is sad to see that decent top-roof lounge, Black Sheep go, but…<\/p>\n

River & Post\"\"<\/a><\/em><\/strong>
\nI recommend this place, a walking distance by the river, a must-stop place in Five Points is River & Post. The place is busy has a good restaurant and on the TOP floor with a city view and the St Johns River.<\/p>\n

The Bars…<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Five Points has plenty of bars, one of them, a-really old-one and dark, with pool tables (it has been there forever).  Alewife Bottle shop and Tasting Room is the only one with a nice welcome front, right on Park Street. There is a bar on the roof across from the movie theater, a good place to meet locals and enjoy sport games. And I heard there is jazz on Tuesdays on one of them, that should be fun.<\/p>\n

Lomax Street with the same businesses, nothing has changed since my last visit last Summer.<\/p>\n

It is always fun to visit Five Points in Jacksonville, there aren’t places like this in Florida.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/em>New Redesigned at Lomax Street.<\/h3>\n

I stopped to Taqueria Cinco, had homemade Mexican style chorizo Oaxaca cheese, avocado salsa. A delicious drink, jalape\u00f1o-infused El Guitarron, triple orange, lime, agave, salt rim and walked towards the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens to River & Post Rooftop Bar for more cocktails, enjoyed a singer, great crowd and the scenic view- it closes early as everywhere in Five Points though.<\/p>\n

Taqueria Cinco featuring the “True Mexican Taqueria” concept, with very high reviews.  My friend Ricky had the fun & spicy jalape\u00f1o margarita, and we ordered most of the recommendations from our friendly server, all delicious!  Taqueria Cinco is the best news for Five Points! <\/em><\/p>\n

Sake <\/em>House across the street is still the same, has good rolls, sashimi & kitchen dishes like katsu & teriyaki, Aroi has a very unique Thai flavors, like it! It is busy and fun to go out at night on Park Street and visit the shops.<\/em><\/p>\n

On my recent visit to the fun places in town, my first stop is always Five Points.  Since Derby House Diner closed in 10\/19 on the Main Five Points corner, now there is a Taco place. The main entrance is on their backyard, and no signs of food. Another bar in Five Points. A little disappointed.<\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"I visited Five Points late afternoon last Sunday, to find Biggies. I came in and the friendly folks let me snap few shots with my Sony Alpha 7- as you can see the decor is very Five Points, looking at Park Street through a large open window like those Miami-Cuban coffee shops.  They invited me their delicious pizza and as I was leaving the place was full.  It is definitely going to do well.

There is a brewery and at least three other bars next to each other across the street from Sun Ray Cinema.<\/em><\/p>\n

The food has improved in the neighborhood.  At the corner of Post and Park Street Hawkers, the Asian chain is always crowded, next to the Asian fusion Crane Ramen.  Escape is a new Arabic bistro on the same Park Street, the place looks nice and inviting.  <\/em><\/p>\n

Daytime is kind of quiet and nice, at night is crowded and a lot of fun (weekends), but not for shopping… stores close early, and can be a bit spooky on weeknights (city needs to clean the sidewalks!).<\/em><\/p>\n

Midnight Sun Imports<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The shops are still catering the artistic population of Avondale and Riverside -which is good – that’s what makes this bohemian neighborhood special. Midnight Sun Imports, the most inviting store in the block, they have an eclectic range of imported furniture, home goods, crafts & jewelry, and aromas of Indian lands.  T<\/em>here are two more trendy shops next door, Jane Doe Boutique, “a shop for ladies that is different”. <\/em>I’m pleased to see the Antique Mall on Lomax Street attracting many visitors, it has 5,500 sf, jewelry, furniture, collectibles, vintage items by independent dealers ( I bought a Kodak Brownie 8mm projector!).<\/em><\/p>\n

On Margaret Street the same old places… I always recommend the Black Sheep Restaurant at the corner with Oak Street, quite modern and very clean -at night always enjoyable to go to there, they have great food, awesome drinks, always nice people to meet at the deck…<\/em><\/p>\n

It is always refreshing to visit Five Points, hang out for a while, purchase an old vinyl record at the antique and vintage shops, enjoy a good cup of coffee, grab a craft beer, smoke a cigar, & hang-out with the tourists and locals.<\/em><\/p>\n
